2010-06-21 Bike ride to the Vabole, Kalupe training ground

Here's how we went for a ride today.

The bike computer, however, shows 83 km. Maybe I didn't cut off an extra piece in the GPS, or maybe the computer isn't calibrated accurately enough.

A cyclist from behind standing in front of a pile of old wooden logs blocking the way in a dense green forest. In the distance beyond this obstacle, a straight dirt road going forward can be seen.
The bridge at the training ground was destroyed a long time ago

Rural landscape: a dirt road goes to the left, and on the right in the foreground there is a bus stop sign 'Stūpeņi'. In the background, outbuildings and dense trees are visible under a gray sky.

The settlement is called "Stupeni"

A dirt road goes into the distance under an overcast sky, to its right is a green field with tall grass. In the center of the field there is a road sign with the inscription 'LIELĀS KLOCKAS'.

It's far from the only one with a funny name

A wooden windmill on a green hill surrounded by dense forest. On the left in the foreground, a person in a cap stands with a bicycle, rocks and logs lie nearby.

This is the kind of windmill they have in Vabole

A yellow sign with business hours in Latvian ('DARBA LAIKS'), attached to a white brick wall with cracks.

The post office has a pretty good schedule, I wish I had working hours like that

A man in glasses and a cap stands on a wooden platform by a pond. The body of water is partially covered with aquatic plants and reflects the sky with trees, while the shore is overgrown with tall green grass.
